BUFFALO TWP— Bob Egley of Kittanning won the 15-lap school bus feature Tuesday night at Lernerville Speedway.Starting from the seventh position, Egley took the lead for good on the sixth lap. He also won a Pure Stock feature here May 4.Bill Clepper of Freeport finished second in the school bus feature with Mike McNeish of Butler claiming third, while Frank Spithaler of Evans City was fourth.Christa Egli of Meadville won the Ladies Powder Puff bus feature, with Rose Spithaler of Evans City finishing second. Kris Bures of Blairsville won the 12-lap Quad feature, with Matt Schaeffer of Kittanning, Vinnie Esposito of New Derry, Joe Davis of Stoneboro and Tyler Smith of East Brady rounding out the top five.
ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves cleared roster spots for newly acquired relievers Octavio Dotel and Ron Mahay Wednesday by cutting first baseman Julio Franco and demoting right-handed reliever Jose Ascanio.The 48-year-old Franco was signed by the Braves on July 18 after he was designated for assignment by the New York Mets on July 12.If Franco is not signed by another team, he could rejoin the Braves in September.
ROME — Italian golfer Alessandro Pissilli was suspended after failing a drug test.Pissilli tested positive for the diuretic Finasteride at the Omnium National Championship on June 29, the Italian Olympic Committee said Wednesday.
