Retailer submits landslide site plan
PITTSBURGH — Wal-Mart has submitted a proposal to the state on its plans to stabilize a still-moving hillside that collapsed last year, closing a road for two weeks.
Some 300,000 cubic yards of dirt fell onto a Kilbuck Township highway and nearby Norfolk Southern railroad tracks in the September landslide where Wal-Mart was preparing to build a supercenter-anchored plaza. Development will not be discussed until the land is stabilized, Wal-Mart spokesman Jim Davis said.
Wal-Mart hopes to be close to having the site stable by the end of next year, he said.
