ERIE — Presque Isle State Park will close some beaches next month for long delayed sand replenishment.

The park will close different beaches periodically as new sand is spread along the lakefront, said Harry Leslie, the park's manager.

Normally, sand replenishment at Presque Isle takes place in the spring. However, budgetary issues delayed the program this year.

Presque Isle requires replenishment because storms make off with thousands of tons of sand every year.
