Sliders get 40th loss

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Sliders tallied one run in the bottom of the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough as the Chillicothe Paints eked out a 2-1 victory in Frontier League baseball action Sunday night at Critchfield Park.

Travis Garcia's solo home run in the sixth inning gave the Paints (24-32) a 1-0 lead. The visitors added a run in the top of the eighth inning.

Perry Cunningham evened his record to 2-2 while Eric Teall held on to earn his ninth save. Dan Schwartz (0-2) was tagged with the loss.

The Sliders (15-40) outhit the Paints 8-6 and did not commit an error.

On Saturday, the Sliders jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning and tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning en route to a 6-2 victory.

Frontier League All-Star Zac Cline (5-3) tossed 6 1/3 innings with six strikeouts to pick up the win while Jared Simon went the rest of the way with three strikeouts and no walks to earn his second save in as many days.

Anthony Albano had a double, single, two RBI and scored a run, Arndt added a pair of hits and two runs scored and Casey Bowling a single, RBI and run scored.
