TRAVERSE CITY, MI — Nick Tracy surrendered five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Slippery Rock Sliders were shutout by host Traverse City, 7-0 in Frontier League baseball action on Friday.
Tracy shouldered the loss after striking out one, walking three and giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits in five innings on the mound.
The Beach Bums (19-28) scored all of their fifth-inning runs with two outs.
Traverse City pitching, which included starter Ryan Gehring and three relievers, held Slippery Rock (10-36) to six hits.
Phil Butch collected two hits for the Sliders, who left 10 men on base.
Slippery Rock has now lost 10 straight games. It is the Sliders second double-digit losing streak of the season and the team has lost 24 of their last 26 games.

Two Butler County junior golfers played well at the Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Tournament of the Big "I" Junior Classic, which was held June 26 at Diamond Run Golf Club near Sewickley.Joseph Rukas of Sarver carded an 80 and Kirk Pappas of Cranberry Township recorded an 81. Both scores put them above the cut of 77 that would have advanced them to the state tournament.
Center Township's Marissa DeCola, 13, shot a 43 in nine holes to capture first place at a Southwestern PA Junior Golf Tour event at Village Green Golf Course Thursday in Hickory.
