Beach Bums kick sand in Sliders' faces

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — The Slippery Rock Sliders surrendered three first-inning runs and never recovered in a 4-2 loss to the Traverse City Beach Bums Sunday evening.

Slippery Rock starter Judson Smith was charged with all three tallies and shouldered the loss.

Nate Yoho slapped an RBI-double in the seventh inning for the Sliders (10-34).

Despite three hits from leadoff hitter Nate Yoho and two more from Cy Donald, the Sliders couldn't overcome the five runs Traverse City scored in the bottom of the fourth inning, which gave the home team a 6-2 edge.

Slippery Rock also committed three errors behind four different pitchers, which included starter and eventual loser Nick Tracy.

Tracy was unable to record an out in the Beach Bums' big fourth frame.
