Sliders lose to Paints

The Slippery Rock Sliders' eighth-inning rally fell short in a 3-2 loss to the Chillicothe (Ohio) Paints in Frontier League play Wednesday evening.

Slippery Rock (9-24) entered the eighth frame trailing 3-0, but received a two-out double from Anthony Albano followed by a two-run home run off the bat of Kevin Holley.

Paints' reliever Eric Teall then got Jon Dandridge to fly out to end the inning.

Nick Tracy shouldered the loss for the Sliders, striking out four and walking four in six innings of work. He allowed three runs (one earned).

Chillicothe (15-19) grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Paul Rutgers scored on a throwing error by Dandridge.

The home team's lead was increased to 3-0 in the second frame after run-producing hits from Evan Sobel and Travis Garcia.

Jon Tapper (1Z\c innings) and Greg Lasinski (2/3 IP) both managed scoreless relief outings for the Sliders.

Albano ended the game with a single and double.

Slippery Rock will host Washington tonight in a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. at Jack Critchfield Park.
