Carr

Lewis John "Lew" Carr, 64, of Harrisville, formerly of Boyers, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Venango County, after a courageous battle with cancer. Prior to his illness, he had been well following successful heart transplant surgery 20 years ago.

Born in Kittanning, June 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Leroy L. and Sarah A. Barnhart Carr.

Mr. Carr was involved in racing stock and late model cars at the Lernerville, Mercer, Sharon and Tri-City racetracks for 20 years. He also was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and fishing.

He attended school in East Brady. He was employed for years by the Bracken Construction Co. and he later worked at Lindy Paving.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Sue A. Booher Carr, whom he married Sept. 2, 1983, in Slippery Rock; two daughters, Janie Martin and her husband, Justin, of Harrisville and Michelle Carr of Hampton, Va.; two sons, Jim Carr, and his wife, April, of Rimersburg and Scott Carr and his wife, Shirley, of Stephens City, Va.; three sisters, Sandra Ashley and her husband, Kim, of Albuquerque, N.M., Carole Deal of Sarver and Connie Sanko and husband, Chuck, of Round Mountain, Nev.; and a brother, Merle Carr and his wife, Cindy, of Rimersburg.

He also is survived by 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of half-brothers, half-sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Roxy Carr, and a brother, Michael Carr.

<B>CARR</B> — Friends of Lewis John "Lew" Carr, who died Sunday, May 20, 2007, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Funeral services will follow at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Campbell, pastor of the New Zion Evangelical Church in Emlenton, officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dutch Hill, Perry Township, Clarion County.
