PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Matt Capps' suspension for hitting Milwaukee's Prince Fielder with a pitch has been reduced to three games and will begin today.

The right-handed Capps will sit out the three-game Pirates-Mariners series in Seattle. Left-hander Damaso Marte or right-hander Shawn Chacon are expected to cover any save opportunities Capps misses.

Fielder was hit in his upper right arm by a Capps pitch on May 5, immediately after the Brewers' J.J. Hardy hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning of Milwaukee's 6-3 victory. Capps was ejected by home plate umpire Alfonso Marquez.
