Today — Police charged Christopher Lawrence Edwards, 27, of Butler for writing bad checks, stemming from a pair of checks totaling $250 written for Cubs Bingo that he passed in October at the Cubs Halls on South McKean Street.5:15 p.m. Wednesday — Two Lawrence County men are accused of shoplifting three air conditioners from the Kmart store at Pullman Square.An employee called police after spotting one of the suspects walking out of the store carrying a large box without paying for the merchandise. The alleged thieves drove off in a car.Aided by a description of the car, a police officer quickly found the vehicle, with no one inside, at a store parking lot in Butler Township. Joshua Bober, 28, and Jason Stuble, 27, both of Wampum were arrested when they returned to the car.Police searched the car and found three air conditioners, valued at $200 each. Stuble in a written statement admitted he and Bober had taken the items because "they needed to make money."The defendants were arraigned on charges of retail theft, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond each.12:11 p.m. Wednesday — Two Butler boys were hurt when their bicycle collided with a mini-van at West Brady Street and Mitchell Avenue.Dante Smith, 8, who was operating the bike going down Mitchell Avenue, and Quameer Bacote, 8, who was riding on the back, both suffered minor injuries.William Johnson, 44, of Butler, who was driving the van, told police that the bike traveled into the intersection through a stop sign, and he was unable to avoid the collision. Police filed no charges in the accident.Wednesday — Xavier Bennett reported that his son's silver, Mongoose bicycle was stolen from the YMCAon North Washington Street. The bike is valued at $150.Tuesday — Two handguns, two rifles and a collection of more than 80 Zippo lighters were among the property reportedly stolen in a burglary at an Orchard Avenue home.Thomas Smith, who formerly rented the house, discovered the burglary when he went to the home to pick up some belongings he left behind when he moved in May.Stolen were a Dan Wesson .357 magnum revolver, Davis Industries P-380 pistol, Winchester .22-caliber rifle, Marlin 30-06 rifle with a Leopold scope, the lighter collection, a three-diamond ring set, two leather jackets, a gas grill, chain saw and lawnmower.

Wednesday — An unidentified piece of construction equipment, valued at $6,000, was stolen between 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at Route 8 and Twin Willows Lane in Middlesex Township. Alex E. Paris Contracting Co. of Atlasburg, Washington County, owns the stolen property.7:38 a.m. Tuesday — Vehicles driven by Patrick Cozzens, 33, of Pittsburgh and Brea Tekac, 27, of Harmony collided on Route 488 at the Interstate 79 off-ramp in Muddy Creek Township. Tekac suffered minor injuries.Tuesday — Ared, Lincoln generator/stick welder valued at $1,800 was stolen between June 7 and Tuesday on Campbell Road in Concord Township, Kuzneski Contracting of Indiana, Pa., owns the stolen property.Monday — Acard table and two chairs were stolen between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. from the Driftwood Drive home of Terry Stettmier in Jefferson Township.

2:39 p.m. Tuesday — Charles Schons Jr., 48, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at the parking lot of Chadz Lounge in Madison Township, Clarion County.

9:33 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Adam Gibbons, 23, of Meadville crashed into a guardrail on Route 173 near Scrubgrass Road in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County. Gibbons, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated for minor injuries at Grove City Medical Center.10:!5 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by William Sterrett, 71, of Kennderdell crashed into mailboxes and a tree along Route 208 near Nutt Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Sterrett, who was treated for minor injuries at Grove City Medical Center, was cited for a lane violation.
