Freedom triumph vs. Sliders
FLORENCE, Ky. — Reggie Watson had three hits and three RBI to power the Florence Freedom to a 6-2 victory over the Slippery Rock Sliders Sunday.
The Freedom (9-9) won the final three games of the four-game series.
Beau Blacken added a home run, single and two RBI while Tim Grogan and Joe Holland rapped out two hits apiece.
Casey Bowling led the Sliders (6-11) with two hits while Steve Georgian had a double, an RBI and a run scored, and Cy Donald added a single and an RBI.
Mark Janszen picked up the win in 2X\c innings of relief. He allowed no hits, struck out three and walked two.
Alex McEnaney was charged with the loss, allowing four runs and eight hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked one.
In Saturday's 3-2 loss to Florence, the Sliders did all their offensive damage in the first inning, grabbing a 2-0 lead before falling.
Mike Darrah drove in both runs with a single while Bowling and Phil Butch had two singles and a run scored each. Jason Von Behren's double accounted for the Sliders' other hit.
Grogan had two doubles and two runs scored for Florence, while Ryan Basham had a double, a single and an RBI and Holland and Joe Neal each drove in a run.
Alain Quijano shook off the rocky first inning, going six innings for the victory. He struck out five batters and walked two. Domingo Acosta notched the final four outs to record his third save.
The Sliders' Derek Duclos pitched 4Z\c innings and was charged with the loss.
