Dancers

In response to an honest submission by Dale.

Prior to the birth of my daughter now 9, I too may have thought (not written) something similar. However after transporting her for the past six years, currently twice a week to her dance school; my thought's have wisely changed.

She is in a competitive dance group, beginner student of band, and a cheerleader for the local summer football team. All of her choosing. All while maintaining A's in her studies. She is my little hero.

I write this not to brag about my daughter, or her school. But to perhaps enlighten you to look beyond the costume, hair, bust, or waist of these young ladies and see the dancer within. All the hours of dedication it takes to achieve what is presented to you. They face peer pressure, are inundated by the media to look and act a certain way. God forbid if they don't fit that mold!

I did not see the show you mentioned, nor may I know the instructor. Perhaps she may recently have been with child as my daughters current ballet teacher is. And in her eighth month is still teaching her classes.

In the coming months no less than ten dance schools in this area will hold recitals. I challenge you to attend one. ANY one you care to choose. You will be astonished at the perfomance you will behold.

Each of these schools in their own form, is dedicated to molding and shaping the minds and futures of these young people.
