Slippery Rock University's Jeff Weiss secured his fourth all-America honor in two years when he placed fourth Thursday in the 10,000-meter run of the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C.

Weiss had a time of 30 minutes, 1.36 seconds. He finished fourth last season and was third and 15th, respectively, at the cross country championships in 2005 and 2006.

Paul Schwab is in 13th place at the midway mark of the decathlon competition.

In the women's championship, Andi Rose moved into position to earn her fifth all-America honor when she ran the third-fastest time in the 400 hurdles (1:00.21). The top eight times in Thursday's preliminary heats earned berths in the finals.

Slippery Rock High graduate Melissa Sopher recorded the No. 10 time (1:00.97) in the 100 hurdles.

Jenny Kirsch finished 14th in the long jump (17 feet, 4C\v) in the only other final result of a Rock athlete.
