Shanea L. Raabe of Franklin Township was honored by the Trillium Council of the Girls Scouts at its 2007 Women & Girls of Distinction Awards Reception in Pittsburgh April 19.

Raabe, a junior at Slippery Rock High who lettered in soccer, basketball and track, has a 3.86 grade-point average. She ran her first 5K race for the United Way Clarion last September and took a second-place medal for girls ages 16 to 19.

She is a Sunday school teacher and helps other teens fight drug and alcohol abuse.

Raabe is the daughter of William Raabe and Kathy Raabe Jesteadt.

SAN FRANCISCO — Barry Bonds hit his 745th career home run Tuesday, moving within 10 of Hank Aaron's record 755.The San Francisco slugger connected on the first pitch from New York's Tom Glavine for a solo shot over the center-field wall with one out in the fourth, pulling the Giants within 4-1 on his 11th homer of the season. He rounded the bases as "745" flashed on the main scoreboard.

NEW YORK — Portland guard Brandon Roy, the NBA Rookie of the Year, was a unanimous choice Tuesday for the league's all-rookie team.Roy led the first team with 58 points, followed by Toronto's Andrea Bargnani (57), Minnesota's Randy Foye (48), Memphis' Rudy Gay (39) and Toronto's Jorge Garbajosa (37) and Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge (37) in voting by the league's coaches.
