DENVER — Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki turned an unassisted triple play in the seventh inning against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.Kelly Johnson and Edgar Renteria reached on singles and were running on a 3-2 pitch when Tulowitzki caught Chipper Jones' line drive behind second base. Tulowitzki stepped on the bag to double up Johnson and tagged Renteria for the third out.
IRVING, Texas — Scott Verplank used three straight birdies and Luke Donald's lead-blowing double bogey Sunday to take the lead and then win the first EDS Byron Nelson Championship played without its namesake.Verplank closed with a 4-under-66 for a 13-under 267 total, a stroke ahead of Donald (68) for his fifth PGA Tour victory, his first since the 2001 Canadian Open.
MORELIA, Mexico — Silvia Cavalleri became the first Italian winner in LPGA Tour history Sunday, closing with a 7-under 66 for a two-stroke victory over Mexican star Lorena Ochoa and Paraguay's Julieta Granada in the Corona Morelia Championship.
