Rock teams record sweeps
M.J. Parsons went 4-for-4 and drove in six runs in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of West Liberty(W.Va.) State College as the Slippery Rock University baseball team won 13-5, 8-6 Tuesday afternoon.
The Rock has now won six games in a row.
In the second game, Mike DeCola, a SlipperyRock High graduate, picked up the win in relief, tossing three innings of one-hit ball.
The Rock will play a pivotal four-game set withShippensburg starting Friday. One win will put SRU in the PSAC playoffs, which begin May 2 at Critchfield Park.
The Rock set a school record for wins in a season with a doubleheader sweep of Salem (W.Va.) International Tuesday.The 6-0 and 9-0 wins put The Rock at 26-18, breaking the record of 24 wins set by the 2005 team.Stacey Rhoades doubled and drove in two runs in game one. Rhoads also hit her 14th home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the second game.
