Edna MaeWoodring, 87, of New Castle died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, March 18 at the Greer House.

Born Aug. 8, 1919, in Kaylor, Pa., she was the daughter of Albert and Pearle Gold Griffiths.

A graduate of Karns City High School and Slippery Rock University, she also earned her master's degree from New York University.

She retired from the New Castle School District in 1977, after teaching for 35 years. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of New Castle and several of the church's organizations.

Surviving are a stepson, Robert A. Woodring of Akron, Ohio; and a brother, Kenneth E. Griffiths of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Woodring, to whom she was married in June 1967, and who died in December 1982; and a brother, Charles E. Griffiths.
