C. Kathleen Douthett, 85, of Sarver died Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Born Sept. 15, 1921, in Sarver, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ethel Walters Beale.

A 1939 graduate of Har-Brack High School and a 1942 graduate of Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing, she served in the Army Nurse Corps in the European Theater for 16 months during World War II, attaining the rank of first lieutenant on June 1, 1945, and receiving the European Theater Ribbon, WorldWar II Victory Medal and the Rhineland Battle Star.

She served as a general duty nurse in VA hospitals in Richmond, Va., and at the Deshon Hospital in Butler. She served as a general duty nurse in Glendale, Ariz., Allegheny Valley Hospital, and also at Concordia Lutheran Home. She was an industrial nurse at Allegheny Ludlum, and was a member of the Freeport United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Douthett of Sarver and David Douthett of Crescent, Pa.; two sisters, Dorothy Hunter of Rockville, Md., and Mrs. Lloyd (Lucille) Stockton of Medford, Ore.; two brothers, Floyd Beale of Sarver and Robert Beale of Lower Burrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford C. Douthett, Jr., who died Oct. 26, 2003, and an infant daughter, Barbara L. Douthett, who died in March 1956.
