Zajac

Paul J. Zajac, 80, of Richland Township died Friday at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCan-dless Township.

Born April 11, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of John and Apollonia Jenka Zajac.

He graduated in 1984 as cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in special education.

Mr. Zajac had worked in the Carpenters Union Local 211 for more than 50 years as a cabinet maker; and after he retired in 1993, he became active in Project Literacy.

He had diverse interests; and at one time, he belonged to the Tip Toppers Club, a club for people over 6 feet tall and the Optimist Club. More recently, he was active in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight.

He was a member of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church.

On many occasions, he told friends he wanted his funeral to be a big parade and everybody should bring a friend.

His wife, Mary Edward Housley Zajac, whom he married Sept. 2, 1950, at St. Gabriel Church in Bellevue, died Jan. 20, 2007.

He is survived by his children, Gregory P. (Patricia) Zajac of Prospect, Cindy (Jeff) Beattie of Adams Township, Donna Eiseman of Indiana Township, Allegheny County, David (Regina) Zajac of Prospect, Michelle Zajac of Aliquippa, Michael (Julie) Zajac of Harmony, Danielle (Bob) Malchano of Richland Township and Andrea (Ed) Simmons of Zelienople. He is the grandfather of 28 and the great-grandfather of six.

King Jr. Funeral Home</B>, Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Hampton Township.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Richard Roman Catholic Church. with the Rev. Ken Oldenski as celebrant.
