Don Joseph Bowers, 76, of West McQuistion Road died at 5 a.m. Saturday at the Sunnyview Home.

Born April 15, 1930, in Windber, Somerset County, he was the son of Joseph Otto and Nellie May Moore Bowers.

Mr. Bowers was a Navy veteran and had been a chemist technician at U.S. Steel in Saxonburg.

He was a member of Victory Lodge 694 F&AM and American Legion Post 117.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Jane Huffman Bowers, whom he married Jan. 1, 1953; a son, Bradley W. Bowers of Charleston, W.Va.; two daughters, Kathryn N. Mitchell and Wendy A. McWilliams, both of Butler; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph D. Bowers; a brother, Charles L. Bowers; and two sisters, Irene E. Davies and Dorothy Costlow.
