Agriculture vet's visit to focus on beef cattle
Dr. Leo Brito, newly appointed Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Veterinarian, will visit Western Pennsylvania this week.
Focusing on cattle reproduction, Brito is interested in talking to beef producers to help identify what he and his department can do to serve the beef cattle industry in Western Pennsylvania.
Brito will meet with producers Thursday at the Ron McIntire farm on Route 422 just west of Elderton. The meeting will be held in the farm's white barn on the left side of the road as you are traveling east toward Elderton.
The McIntire farm is noted for its herd of commercial and registered Angus cattle and the interesting terrain that is utilized for grazing.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. All interested area beef cattle producers are encouraged to attend.
Questions about the meeting can be directed to Dustin Heeter, Westmoreland County Extension Livestock Educator at 724-837-1402 or e-mail at ddh7@psu.edu.
