The state high school basketball playoffs are set:
• The Mars girls will open up the PIAA Class AAA playoffs with a play-in-round game againstPeabody at 6 p.m. Tuesday at North Hills HighSchool.
• The Slippery Rock girls, fresh off a dramatic District 10 Class AAA title win, will play the winner of that game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock University's Morrow Field House.
• The Union girls, the District 9 Class A champion for the third season in a row, will take on Ferndale at 3 p.m. Saturday at Clarion University.
• The Karns City girls, the District 9 Class AA champ, will square off against Shady Side Academy at 5 p.m. Friday atClarion University.
• The Grove City boys, who lost the District 10 Class AAA title to General McLane, get a tough assignment when they take on WPIAL runner-up Chartiers Valley at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Butler HighSchool.
Butler High School and Slippery Rock University also will host other playoff games:
• A girls Class A matchup between Farrell and Elk CountyCatholic will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at Morrow Field House.
• Butler will play host to WPIAL Quad-A champ New Castle when it takes on either Norwin or Schenley at 6 p.m.Friday.
IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with free agent offensive lineman Leonard Davis.Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple confirmed the deal Sunday, but not the details of the agreement. He said a formal announcement by the team was expected Monday.According to various reports, including a story posted on the team's Web site, Davis agreed to a seven-year contract worth nearly $50 million.
HOUSTON — The Houston Texans agreed to terms with free agent running back Ahman Green.The 30-year-old former Green Bay Packer will likely become the starter for a team that struggled at the position last season after Domanick Williams — formerly Davis — missed the year with knee problems.
MEXICO CITY — Juan Pablo Montoya spun teammate Scott Pruett to take the lead with eight laps left, then held off Denny Hamlin to win the Busch Series race on Sunday for his first NASCAR victory.Montoya, the Colombian star who jumped from Formula One to NASCAR late last season, recovered from a bad pit stop to aggressively move from 19th to first, taking the lead when he sent Pruett's car spinning on the 72nd lap of the Telcel-Motorola 200.
TORRANCE, Calif. — Mexican flyweight Victor Burgos had brain surgery following his loss to IBF champion Vic Darchinyan on Saturday night, Don King Productions spokesman Juan Gonzalez said Sunday.The operation to remove a blood clot and relieve swelling was performed at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center shortly after the bout was stopped in the 12th round, with Burgos wobbly.
