It was Nowakowski's fourth consecutive double-double.
Slippery Rock High product and Westminster College freshman Abbey Basta took first place in the women's 55-meter hurdle event, Friday at the Kenyon Last Chance indoor meet in Gambier, Ohio, with a school-record time of 9.04 seconds.The performance helped the Titans win the competition with 137 team points, just in front of Thiel College (129.5).With her time, Basta qualifies for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships.
MARANA, Ariz. — Henrik Stenson, who delivered the winning point for Europe in the Ryder Cup, won a big match for himself Sunday by surviving a roller-coaster round against Geoff Ogilvy to capture the Accenture Match Play Championship.In a 36-hole final that featured five lead changes, Stenson closed out the defending champion with back-to-back birdies for a 2-and-1 victory that moved the 30-year-old Swede among the elite in golf at No. 5 in the world ranking.
MIAMI — Heat guard Dwyane Wade will seek a second opinion early this week before deciding whether to rehabilitate his dislocated left shoulder or have season-ending surgery to repair the joint.If Wade chooses the rehab option, he could return to Miami's lineup in about six weeks, or with around 10 regular-season games remaining. He was presented with his recovery options Thursday, one day after suffering the injury in a collision with Houston's Shane Battier, but has not announced a decision.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tommy Haas beat Andy Roddick 6-3, 6-2 to retain his title in the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships. The German completed a week in which he didn't face a break point in 47 games.Haas won his sixth straight final and 11th title overall. He also won in Memphis in 1999 and is only the second three-time winner of this event. Jimmy Connors, now Roddick's coach, won in 1978, 1979, 1983 and 1984.
