SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University athletic director Paul Lueken named 133 SRUstudent athletes to the Fall Semester 2006 Director of Athletics Honor Roll.Student-athletes must attain at least a 3.5 grade point average during the semester to be eligible. These 133 honorees include 40 with a perfect 4.0 GPA and 21 who participate in more than one sport at The Rock.

BOSTON — Corey Dillon, who is 14th on the NFL's career rushing list, is likely to be playing for a team other than New England next season.Dillon's agent, Steve Feldman, told The Associated Press Friday that his client will ask the Patriots for his release and that the team is likely to grant it by March 2, the start of free agency.Dillon told The Boston Globe that he would probably retire, but Feldman, while acknowledging that retirement is a possibility, said it is unlikely.

WACO, Texas — The father of NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson was killed Friday when the pickup truck in which he was riding blew a tire and flipped on a highway.Oliver Tomlinson was killed at about 1:30 p.m. in the one-vehicle rollover, said Charlie Morgan, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman. Tomlinson was 71.

Tour de France champion Floyd Landis claims more mistakes were made in his doping case, this time involving technicians who handled his two positive urine samples.Landis' attorneys say the cyclist's positive doping tests could be invalidated because the same technicians were allowed to work on both samples. Lab rules prohibit technicians from participating in both tests to prevent them from validating their own findings.The lawyers want the technicians from the French lab to be questioned for his arbitration case against the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, scheduled for May 14.
