Reepmeyer tops 1,000 career points

Glenn Reepmeyer went over 1,000 points in his career, scoring 17 Wednesday as the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team fell to Edinboro 76-64 at Morrow Field House.

Reepmeyer, who didn't play basketball for TheRock last season to concentrate on water polo, came into the game needing only six points to reach the milestone.

He now has 1,011 points in his career. He also had 11 rebounds in the loss.

Reepmeyer decided to come back to the SRU program after the university cut the men's water polo team in a cost-cutting move.

Joseph Vines paced The Rock (5-18, 2-6) with 18 points.

SRU shook off a slow start to shoot 60 percent in the second half and to hand Edinboro a 52-43 loss.The Rock trailed 20-15 at the half after shooting 28 percent from the floor.Edinboro was worse, shooting 21 percent in the first half and in the game.The teams combined for 41 turnovers.Amanda Nero scored 13 points and Chere' Marshall and Nijha McNeely each added 11 for SRU (9-13, 3-5).
