Lloyd S. 'Red' McConnell

Lloyd S. "Red" McConnell, 85, formerly of Lumar Village, died Friday evening at Sunnyview Home.

Born in Butler, June 21, 1921, he was a son of Earl S. and Blanche Brown McConnell.

He retired in 1983 from the business office of the United Telephone Co. after 32 years.

Mr. McConnell had been a volunteer firefighter for the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Moose Lodge 64 in Butler.

He had been an active athlete and was an avid golfer and sports fan.

A veteran of World War II, he had served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific and had completed student pilots' training.

Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Ishman of Butler; a grandson, Adam Ishman of Las Vegas; a brother, Herbert McConnell of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Plaisted McConnell, who died Feb. 7, 1989; a brother, and a sister.

<<B>MCCONNELL</B>— Friends of Lloyd S. "Red" McConnell, who died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. David L. West, pastor of the GraceWay Community Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park cemetery, Butler Township.Memorial donations may be made to the Butler VNA, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
