GUANGZHOU, China — Lori Chalupny and Natasha Kai scored and the United States beat China 2-0 today to win the Four Nations women's soccer tournament in southern China.

It was the United States' record fifth Four Nations title. The U.S. drew two games — 1-1 against England and 0-0 vs. Germany — before beating China.

GROVE CITY — Rex King of Bristolville, Ohio, won his second consecutive BRPModified Tour championship in 2006, beating out runner-up Brian Swartzlander by 18 points, and was among the series' top 20 drivers honored Saturday at Big Daddy's Speed Shop in Grove City.King received the $4,000 champion's share of the point fund. Russell King, Del Rougeux Jr. and Kevin Bolland rounded out the top five.Dave Murdick of Slippery Rock won the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars in each of the series' eight feature events.It also was announced that Ron Smoker of Hamburg, N.Y., series champion from 2002 to 2004, will return after a two-year hiatus from racing.

SARVER — All eight participating FCAGems All-Star Cheerleader squads finished first in their respective divisions at the Poison All-Star Cheerleaders Winterblast held Sunday at North Hills High School.The Rubies won the Outstanding Performance Award and the Diamonds won the Most Entertaining Award.FCAGems travel to Atlanta this month to compete in the Cheersport Nationals, and the Diamonds will compete in the All-Star Worlds in April.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Seneca Valley graduate Kylie Gamelier, a sophomore on the University of Toledo women's swim team, recently broke the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.89 seconds in a dual meet against Akron.
