Helen E. Shoup, 79, of Route 38, Emlenton, in Richland Township, Clarion County, a longtime Emlenton-area businesswoman, died at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Venango County, following complications from pneumonia.

Born Jan. 1, 1927, in Dotterer's Eddy, Richland Township, Venango County, she was a daughter of Galen and Dorothy Webster Eaton.

She was a member of the Emlenton Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Shoup enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and reading. She was an avid animal lover and especially enjoyed the company of her pet cat, Timmie.

A 1945 graduate of Springdale High School, she was the longtime owner and operator of the H.E. Shoup Trucking Co. in Emlenton, which she operated from 1965 until the time of her death.

Surviving are her husband, Guy W. Shoup, whom he married July 20, 1946, in Springdale; a daughter, Jayne Shoup of Middlesex, Vt.; a brother, James E. Eaton of New Cumberland, W. Va.; a sister, Betty Garris of Altoona; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.

<B>SHOUP </B>— Friends of Helen E. Shoup, who died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home</B>, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lori Danielson, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Scrubgrass Cemetery, Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.Memorial donations may be made to the Clarion County Humane Society, Route 322, Shippenville, PA 16254; or to the American Lung Association.
