ALAMEDA, Calif. — Art Shell's second stint as coach of the Oakland Raiders ended Thursday after just one season, the franchise's worst in more than four decades.

Shell met with owner Al Davis, and afterward the team announced that he would not return as coach for the final season of his contract.

Shell's departure from the sideline marks the third coaching change for Davis in the past four years. Oakland has a 15-49 record in that span, including a 2-14 mark this season that was the Raiders' worst since 1962.

NEW YORK — The Yankees reached a tentative agreement with the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday to trade Randy Johnson for reliever Luis Vizcaino and three minor leaguers, a move that allows the Big Unit's agents to get him a contract extension.Arizona general manager Josh Byrnes confirmed what he called "an agreement in principle" but did not identify the players that would go to the Yankees.New York would receive Vizcaino and minor league right-handers Ross Ohlendorf and Steven Jackson, and shortstop Alberto Gonzalez, a baseball official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The Yankees also would pay $2 million of Johnson's $16 million salary this year.

NEW YORK — Buffalo's Lindy Ruff and Anaheim's Randy Carlyle will coach the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star Teams, respectively, at the 2007 NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 24 in Dallas.The coaches are taken from the teams with the top points percentage in each conference through games of Jan. 5. Head coaches from the second place teams in each conference become assistant coaches for the game.
