UCLA and Pittsburgh held onto Nos. 1 and 2 in The Associated Press' college basketball poll released Monday. The following three spots, however, were reshuffled by upsets.

Ohio State, Kansas and Florida tumbled from their respective 3-4-5 slots following losses last week, while Oklahoma State and Xavier made their season debuts in the Top 25. North Carolina took over No. 3, Alabama moved into fourth and the Buckeyes slid to fifth.

STANFORD, Calif. — Walt Harris was fired as Stanford's football coach Monday, two days after finishing the worst season in more than four decades at the school.The former Pitt coach, who led the Cardinal to a 1-11 season, finished the season with a 26-17 loss to rival California.

BUTLER TWP — Ben Porter and Tess Crispin were named boys and girls team MVPs, respectively, at the annual Butler High School cross country awards banquet recently.Tim Karls won the rookie award with Lance Dugger and McKensie East being named outstanding freshmen. Wayne Dailey was named most improved runner while Fontaine Graham won the coach's achievement award.Jessica Vernon received the senior academic award and joined Steve Monnie in receiving a dedication award.Zach Dunkle and Ashley Crawford were named MVPs of the junior high team, Frank Puz and Trisha Brandt receiving coach's achievement awards.
