SLIPPERY ROCK — All active and former armed service personnel, along with children age 14 and under, will be admitted free to Saturday's West Chester-Slippery Rock University football game at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

Children will gain free admittance as part of the annual Take a Kid to the Game promotion. Free hot dogs, drinks and giveaways will be provided to youths as well.

Service personnel will be admitted free in observance of Veterans Day and will be recognized during pregame and halftime festivities.

West Chester and SRUare both 7-3 and the winner of the game, which starts at 1 p.m., likely will gain an NCAADivision IIplayoff berth.

Slippery Rock girls soccer at SV

The PIAA Class AAquarterfinal girls soccer playoff game between Slippery Rock High and Seton-LaSalle will be played at noon Saturday at Seneca Valley High School.

The winner faces the winner of Greensburg Central Catholic-Fairview, which is being played at 11 a.m. Saturday at Karns City.

Karns City High School will host four PIAA quarterfinal soccer playoff games on Saturday, while Seneca Valley's NexTier Stadium will host three games.<B>At Karns City:</B> 11 a.m. — Greensburg Central Catholic-Fairview (Class AA girls); 1 p.m. — Beaver-North East (Class AA boys); 3 p.m. — Moon-Mercyhurst Prep (Class AAA girls); 5 p.m. — Bethel Park-Cathedral Prep (Class AAA boys).<B>At Seneca Valley:</B> noon — Slippery Rock-Seton-LaSalle (Class AA girls); 2 p.m. — Seton-LaSalle-Greensburg Central Catholic (Class A boys); 4 p.m. — Mt. Lebanon-Hampton (Class AAA girls).

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University offensive lineman Mike Butterworth was named to the first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic all-District squad by the College Sports Information Directors of America Wednesday, while senior defensive back Brandon Rakszawski was a second-team selection.Butterfield owns a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a secondary education-mathematics major, while Rakszawski has a 3.75 GPA in business and fiance.
