SLIPPERY ROCK — The SlipperyRock HighSchool girls soccer team will take on Fairview in the District 10 Class AA championship game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Harbor Creek.

The Rockets (19-1) earned their way to the title game with a 3-2 win over Villa Maria.

Fairview (19-1-1) beat Wilmington to get to the finals. Butler is the only team to beat the Tigers, who have given up only six goals all season.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Seven Slippery Rock University soccer players were named All-PSAC.Five of the players are from The Rock's women's team. Sophomore forward Danielle Cooper, junior midfielder Meghan McGrath and senior defender Kelly Blake made the first team, while junior midfielder Jaimi Wilson and sophomore defender Kristine Haug made the second team.On the men's side, junior defender Chris Byers made the first team and junior forward Nick Christy earned second-team honors.Butler grad Lowry gets national honorsButler graduate Annie Lowry, a junior forward on the James Madison University women's soccer team, was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and was selected Brine Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.Lowry scored three goals on four shots in the Dukes' recent 3-1 win over Virginia Commonwealth. She has 19 goals and 47 points in her collegiate career.Carrying a 3.75 grade point average as a business marketing major, Lowry has also been named third team academic all-district.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Three Slippery Rock University soccer players have been accorded academic all-district honors.Sophomore defender Kristine Haug has a 4.0 grade point average as an exercise science major. Junior midfielder Jayme Timmons has a 3.87 as an athletic training major.On the men's side, junior midfielder Nick Christy has a 3.65 as a psychology major.

NEW WILMINGTON — Mars graduate Mallory Bugel, a junior forward on the Westminster College women's soccer team, was named Acacdemic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America.Bugel carries a 3.7 grade point average as a biochemistry major. She leads the Presidents' Athletic Conference with 37 points and is tied for second with 11 goals.
