College hoops starts tonight
DALLAS — College basketball practice begins tonight with some pomp and circumstance.
Many programs' first practices are open to the public as the featured attraction in fan-friendly experiences.
Texas A&M's "Maroon Madness" will probably draw the biggest crowd since it is held in conjunction with Aggie traditional staple Midnight Yell at Kyle Field. A court will be set up on the east sideline in the stadium. The A&M women's team will begin practice at 11:20 p.m. The men's team will take the court after Yell Practice at about 12:25 a.m.
Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, who is 11 wins shy of breaking former North Carolina coach Dean Smith's NCAA wins record, will address the United Spirit Arena crowd at 6:45 p.m. The Red Raiders will begin practice 15 minutes later.
