Former Butler swimmer Eric Namesnik received an Athletes Appreciation award posthumously at the USASwimming annual convention recently in Dearborn, Mich.

Namesnik was a two-time Olympic silver medalist and head coach of the Wolverine Aquatics Club in Ann Arbor, Mich. He died Jan. 11 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

His wife, Kirsten, accepted Namesnik's award.

Jenna Rinker, a sophomore at Slippery Rock High School, placed second at the Meadville Girls Golf Invitational recently at Whispering Pines Golf Course.Rinker carded an 82 for her runner-up finish in the 24-golfer field.
