Roush rookie Ragan making Nextel debut

David Ragan, one of four Roush Racing rookies vying to replace Mark Martin in the No. 6 Ford in 2007, will make his NASCAR Nextel Cup debut this week at Dover International Speedway.

Ragan, currently competing in the Craftsman Truck Series, will try to qualify the No. 06 Roush Racing Ford for Sunday's Dover 400.

"I've looked forward to this day for a long time," Ragan said. "I never thought that the day would come this soon. It just goes to show that hard work and determination really can pay off.

"I have gotten a lot of racing experience in the Craftsman Truck Series that will help me race with the guys in the Nextel Cup Series. I'm looking forward to working with (crew chief) Frank Stoddard."

Ragan also will make his second Busch Series start of the season Saturday at Dover.

"This is an awesome opportunity to get some more experience in the Busch Series," Ragan said. "The guys with the No. 50 team had a great run with Danny O'Quinn here in the spring. It's a really good opportunity to get some valuable seat time to help me get familiar with Dover. I've never raced there, so every lap I make is really going to help me."
