The Butler Public Library is offering an 11-week session of Preschool Story Time for children ages of 3 to 6 beginning Thursday.

Story time will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 2 p.m. Thursdays and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Fridays.

A mother-daughter book discussion group on the book, "Ella Enchanted" by Gail Carlson will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 23.

Crafters are now being sought for the following craft shows and sales:• The Unionville Fire Department craft show, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14. Cost: $8 per table. SLIPPERY ROCK — The Institute for Learning in Retirement of Slippery Rock University has announced the following events and classes:• A Kickoff Party will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the SRU President's Residence, 251 Maltby Ave.• A Thank You, Green Plants class will begin Sept. 20. MARS — St. John Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenburg Way, will host a program for caregivers called "Foundations of Care: Understanding the Person with Dementia," at 8 a.m. Tuesday.The program will last six hours and cost is $50 per person. To register, call 412-261-5040.

Lifesteps will host free Child Check developmental screenings for children age 5 and younger from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St.Each screening takes about 30 minutes and results will be discussed with parents immediately.Appointments are recommended.
