Browns-Bengals game a little on trashy side
PHILADELPHIA — Kellen Winslow Jr. just couldn't help himself.
For the first time in his injury-plagued, three-year career, the Cleveland tight end will be on the same field as Cincinnati's Chad Johnson when the Browns visit the Bengals on Sunday.
As gifted as they are with their hands, Winslow and Johnson are Hall of Famers at trash talk. Winslow fired the first salvo, invoking teammate Leigh Bodden, who will be matched against Johnson most of the day.
"My boy, Bodden, is going to shut him down as he did last year," Winslow said. "He's the best (cornerback) in the league. It's a big challenge for him, but it's also a big challenge for Chad, so tell him that."
Bodden held Johnson to two catches for 22 yards in a December game last year at Cincinnati. Johnson blamed his performance on the blustery conditions of the day while firing back.
"It's humanly impossible to stop (No.) 85," Johnson said. "You are kind of insulting me. I cannot be stopped. Period."
Fantasy owners who spent a high draft pick on Johnson hope the verbal jousting inspires the Bengals receiver, especially considering Johnson's meager performance last week.
Johnson put up a pedestrian five catches for 48 yards and no scores at Kansas City and vows to increase those numbers this week. If he does, Johnson owners may send thank-you cards and letters to Kellen Winslow Jr., 76 Lou Groza Blvd., Berea, OH 44017.

Terrific work by reader Earl Jones, who won last week's Terrell Owens contest. The challenge was to guess how many receiving yards Owens would compile against the Jaguars. While a few folks came close, Jones, who hails from Strawberry Mansion, nailed it exactly. His guess of 80 yards earned him a Daily News T-shirt and, just as important, the admiration of the Daily News fantasy football staff.OK, so maybe the shirt is more valuable.
• Browns wide receiver Dennis Northcutt: Those desperate for a wide receiver might consider Northcutt, who will be starting for the next month or so in place of Joe Jurevicius (ribs).• Packers wide receiver Donald Driver: When Brett Favre isn't throwing it to the other team, he's throwing it to Driver. With upcoming matchups against New Orleans and at Detroit, now's the time to give Driver a look as a No. 2 wide receiver.• Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo: There will be a run on this guy in a lot of larger leagues if Drew Bledsoe winds up getting replaced, especially considering Dallas is at San Francisco and at Oakland after this week's visit from Washington and a bye. Just something to think about.
• Rams quarterback Marc Bulger: Sure, he's an obvious play this week at San Francisco, but how the Rams' offense fares without starting center Andy McCollum (knee) bears watching.• Seahawks wide receiver Nate Burleson: His only catch last week came on the second play of the game. Not only that, but his role will be reduced when newly acquired Deion Branch gets acclimated to the offense.• Titans kicker Rob Bironas: You know your luck is bad when your kicker's team scores 16 points, as Tennessee did Sunday, without that kicker trying a field goal or an extra point.
