NFL HIGHLIGHTS
STARSPassing• Chad Pennington, Jets, threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns to lead New York to a 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans in his return from shoulder surgery last year, his second in as many seasons.• Donovan McNabb, Eagles, back from sports hernia surgery that curtailed his 2005 season, threw for 314 yards and three TDs in beating Houston 24-10.• Kurt Warner, Cardinals, completed 23 of 37 passes for 301 yards and three scores, leading a 34-27 win over the 49ers. Alex Smith, the top overall choice in the 2005 draft, was 23 of 40 for 288 yards and one score.• Rex Grossman, Bears, was 18-of-26 for 262 yards and one TD as he ran his career record to 3-0 at Lambeau Field with a 26-0 win over the Packers.
Rushing• Warrick Dunn rushed for 132 yards for the Falcons, who had 252 on the ground in a 20-6 victory at Carolina.• Steven Jackson, Rams, rushed for 121 yards on 22 carries against Denver in an 18-10 win. Tatum Bell had 103 yards on 15 carries for the Broncos.• Ahman Green, coming off an injured-ravaged season, ran 20 times for 110 yards, but Green Bay fell 26-0 to Chicago.• Fred Taylor, Jaguars, ran 21 times for 74 yards, including a 5-yard score, and caught six passes for 41 yards in a 24-17 win over Dallas.
Receiving• Laveranues Coles, Jets, gained 153 yards on eight catches in helping New York defeat Tennessee 23-16.• Donte' Stallworth, in his debut for the Eagles, had four catches for 124 yards by halftime and finished with six for 141 yards, his 10th career 100-yard game. Philadelphia won 24-10 at Houston.• Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals, was spectacular in a 34-27 win over the 49ers with nine receptions for 133 yards, including a crucial 28-yard reception on third-and-10 from the Arizona 37 late in the game.• Terrell Owens, Cowboys, finished with six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown in his Dallas debut, but Jacksonville won 24-17.
Special Teams• Jeff Wilkins, Rams, kicked a franchise-record six field goals, the only points in an 18-10 over the Broncos. He also tied a career best set with the 49ers in 1996. Wilkins connected from 51, 48, 26, 38, 29 and 24 yards.• John Carney, Saints, kicked four field goals, from 43, 25, 21 and 20 yards, in a 19-14 win at Cleveland.• Josh Brown, Seahawks, made a 42-yard field goal, his third of the game, as time expired to beat Detroit 9-6 on the same field where Seattle lost the Super Bowl to Pittsburgh in February.• Devin Hester, Bears, went 84 yards with a punt return for a TD and had five runbacks for 104 yards.
