Butler freshman Matt Slamecka won the boys under-18 division singles and doubles at the Lakevue September Open USTAtennis tournament recently at Lakevue Racquet Club.

Usually an under-16 player, Slamecka defeated Matt Hoch 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals, Alex Conway 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals and top-seeded Daniel Becker 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 in the finals.

He teamed with Hoch to defeat Adam Marnik and Conway for the doubles title.
