Aaron Hildebrand of Cabot finished first in the Men's Unlimited AA class during the State Animal Round Archery Championship held recently in Mechanicsburg.

Hildebrand tied the state record by shooting a perfect score of 1,120 during the two-day event.

The Butler Archers team took first place with a total score of 4,449. Hildebrand, Jim Shuler, Brad and Dawn Patsy comprised the team. Brad and Dawn Patsy won the husband-wife team competition.

Dawn Patsy finished second in the Women's Unlimited AA class with a 1,110. Brad Patsy placed third in the Men's Umlimited AA class with a 1,114.

Lernerville Speedway will host the Larry Peters Memorial MACSLate Models race and second annual Sonia Bullis Memorial Sprint race Friday night.The Late Model event is 50 laps and pays $5,000 to win. The Sprint event is 25 laps and pays $3,000 to win. Pure Stocks are also on the card.Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstands open at 5 p.m., time trials are at 7:15 p.m., racing at 8 p.m.

Eric Greaves, a junior goalkeeper for the California (Pa.) University men's soccer team and graduate of Slippery Rock High School, was forced to make just two saves as the Vulcans shut out Kutztown, 1-0 on Wednesday.Greaves managed a 14-6 record in net for the team as a sophomore.

PITTSBURGH — Willie Parker, the former college backup who was an undrafted rookie before becoming a Super Bowl star with the Pittsburgh Steelers, signed a $13.6 million, four-year contract that runs through the 2009 season.Parker rushed for 1,202 yards in his first season as an NFL starter last year.
