Grove City High School graduate Gwen Oberlin led the Slippery Rock University volleyball team with 55 digs as The Rock won four matches in the Pioneer Invitational at Glenville State College inWest Virginia over the weekend.

Sara Kirsch added 140 assists in the four matches. Both Oberlin and Kirsch were named to the all-tournament team.

Jen Blasko led The Rock hitters with 42 kills and also had 11 service aces and 52 digs.

This is the second consecutive season SRU has started 4-0. Last year, the team went 24-10.

Men's soccerKeff Hamley scored the only goal of the contest for the SlipperyRock University men's soccer team in a 1-0 blanking of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference preseason favorite Lock Haven over the weekend.Brandon McQuillen stopped five shots to notch his second shutout of the year in as many games.

Women's soccerDanielle Cooper scored off an assist by Meghan McGrath to score the only goal of the game Sunday as the SlipperyRock University women's soccer team notched a 1-0 shutout over Lock Haven.Freshman goalie Lauren McManus recorded her second shutout in as many games.
