CINCINNATI — Running back Clinton Portis partially dislocated his left shoulder during Washington's opening series of the preseason Sunday night, a significant setback for the Redskins' revamped offense.

An MRI test detected the injury, which involves the bone popping out of place temporarily in the shoulder socket. Standard treatment involves rest and strengthening exercises.

There was no immediate indication how long he will be sidelined.

Portis started every game for the Redskins last season, running for a club-record 1,516 yards.

SPARTA, Ky. — Sam Hornish Jr. reclaimed the Indy Racing League points lead on Sunday, passing Scott Dixon with four laps to go to win the Meijer Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway.The win was Hornish's fourth of the year and the eighth by Team Penske this season. His second career victory at Kentucky helped him get back the points lead from teammate Helio Castroneves, who finished third behind Hornish and Scott Dixon.Hornish now leads Castroneves by seven points heading into the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma in two weeks.

DENVER — A.J. Allmendinger earned his fourth Champ Car World Series victory of the season at the Grand Prix of Denver on Sunday.Allmendinger moved into second place in the points race behind Sebastien Bourdais. Justin Wilson, who finished eighth, is third in points.Bourdais passed Paul Tracy for second, but Tracy locked the brakes and slid into Bourdais and both cars failed to finish.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo.— Dean Wilson earned his first PGA Tour win with a birdie on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff, topping Tom Lehman at the International at Castle Pines on Sunday.After Lehman barely missed wide on a 30-foot putt for birdie, Wilson sank a 6-footer to win the $990,000 first-place prize. His best previous finish was a tie for third at the 2004 Valero Texas Open.

LONDON, Ontario — Cristie Kerr overcome an eight-stroke deficit to hand Angela Stanford a crushing loss for the second time in three months, shooting a bogey-free 7-under 65 for a one-stroke victory.Kerr, who came from four strokes back to beat Stanford in May in the Franklin American Mortgage Championship in Tennessee, finished with a 12-under 276 total on the London Hunt and Country Club course.Pat Hurst shot a 68 to finish third at 10 under.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Tournament host Annika Sorenstam birdied the last hole for an 8-under 65 to tie the lowest score on her home course and edge Lorena Ochoa by one shot at the Scandinavian TPC.The Swede finished with a 21-under 271 total at the Bro-Balsta course, where she began playing golf when she was 12.
