FENELTON — Shadetree Speedway will hold a 9-11 tribute day at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the track.

Several local fire and EMS departments will participate. Life Flight will land at 2:45 p.m. as part of the tribute.

Members of a fire or EMS department will receive free admission if they wear a t-shirt or show a membership card from his department.

Butler residents Joe Palermo and Nathan Bilski will be among 14 golfers scheduled to take part in the Heritage Golf Tour Championship Round this morning at Quicksilver Golf Course in Midway.To qualify in the college-level golf tour final, players had to place in the top three in any of the five area qualifying rounds.

The Butler boys eighth-grade basketball team won the Pine-Richland Summer League with a 36-26 victory over Penn-Trafford in the championship game, posting a 9-2 record this season.Team members include Grant Foley, Bobby Swartwout, Kyle Gilliland, Cameron Gronostaj, Vinnie Schmidt, Shane Peters, Brandon Taylor and Jared Wedling. The team is coached by Tom Lesniewski and assisted by Dave Gronostaj.

WASHINGTON — Livan Hernandez was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Arizona Diamondbacks for a pair of minor league pitchers.The 31-year-old Hernandez is 9-8 this season with a career-high 5.34 ERA in 24 starts. The right-hander has been hampered by a sore knee for most of the season but had the latest in a string of strong outings Sunday, allowing two runs over seven innings at San Diego.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. — All 32 NFL owners seemed impressed by the five finalists for the commissioner's job when they finally got to see and hear them.Nothing happened to indicate that Roger Goodell, Paul Tagliabue's No. 2 man, isn't the overwhelming favorite to be elected Tagliabue's successor. That could happen late Tuesday, but more likely on Wednesday.
