IN BRIEF

Another American champion was hit with a shocking positive drug test Saturday — Olympic and world 100-meter titlist Justin Gatlin.

Gatlin acknowledged he had been informed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that he had tested positive for testosterone or other steroids after a relay race in Kansas in April. The revelation came just two days after Tour de France champion Floyd Landis' victory was thrown into question for allegations of similar doping violations.

EVIAN, France — Karrie Webb sank an 18-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole to hold off Michelle Wie and win the Evian Masters by a stroke Saturday, denying the 16-year-old from Hawaii her first professional victory.

MILWAUKEE — Corey Pavin won his first PGA Tour title in 10 years Sunday, closing with a 3-under 67 on Sunday for a two-stroke victory over Jerry Kelly in the U.S. Bank Championship.

OBROOKLYN, Mich. — Helio Castroneves picked up his series-high fourth victory of the season and moved atop the Indy Racing League standings after winning the Firestone Indy 400 on Sunday.
