BELLE VERNON — Marissa DeCola of Slippery Rock captured first place in the girls age-12 division and her brother Mark was second in the boys age-9 division at the Southwestern Pennsylvania Junior Golf Tournament at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon Thursday.

Marissa fired a 40 for nine holes while Mark carded a 52 for nine holes.

The Butler County American Legion Baseball League's two representatives, Mars and East Butler, now know their opponents for the Region 6 playoffs, which begin Monday at the White Township Baseball Complex in Indiana, Pa.Mars, the BCAL regular-season champions, will face Murrysville for a 4:05 p.m. start on Field No. 2 while East Butler, the playoff champion, will face host Marion Center at 4:35 on Field No. 1.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Sharks traded left wing Nils Ekman and goalie Patrick Ehelechner to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday for a second-round draft pick next season.Ekman scored 112 points in 159 games for the Sharks over the past two seasons, playing on San Jose's top line with MVP Joe Thornton and NHL goal-scoring champion Jonathan Cheechoo last year. Ekman also played with Tampa Bay for two seasons before joining the Sharks.But the Swedish forward struggled with consistency and physical play, frequently landing in coach Ron Wilson's doghouse"Ehelechner, a fifth-round pick in 2003, played professionally in Germany for the last two seasons.
