John Aubrey of Butler carded a 3-under-par 69 to share the rain-shortened Stonewall Resort Golf Classic title in Roanoke, W.Va., this week.

Aubrey shared the championship with Ryan Sikora of Totteridge when the second round of the scheduled 36-hole event was rained out.

The victory marked the first tournament triumph for Aubrey this season. He finished third at the recent Tam O'Shanter Open and shot a 71 at the Senior U.S. Open qualifier recently at South Hills Country Club, falling three strokes shy of qualifying for that event.

Matt Maloy of Butler, competing in the 15-16 age group, placed second at the Kings Restaurant Golf Tournament held Monday at GlenGary Golf Course in Latrobe.Maloy carded a 3-over-par 74 and finished two strokes behind the winner.

Tom Fry and Ron Henry of the Butler County Bowling Association finished second in scratch doubles as the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Tournament concluded last weekend.Fry and Henry combined for a 1,471-series, nine pins behind winners Paul Guse and Jack Kurent of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Bowling Association.The Butler County doubles team of Michael Kushner and Scott Davidson finished fifth in doubles handicapped with a 1,530. Jeff Blank was sixth in all events scratch with a 2,169 and Fry was ninth in scratch singles with a 757.

Five Butler County American Legion baseball players have advanced to the third round of the state's legion all-star program.Brad Cottage of East Butler, Mitch Connor and Adam Flemming of Mars, Jim McCaslin of Meridian and Dan Pickard of Saxonburg will participate in all-star play today in Clearfield.Players from today's activities will be selected to play in the All-West Game July 10 in Harrisburg.
