World of Outlaws Sprint Series driver Tim Shaffer, a former points champion at Lernerville Speedway, suffered a fractured vertebrae during a hard flip Friday night at Knoxville Raceway.
Shaffer will be sidelined for an indefinite period.
Cameron Peterson and Ryan Prokay of Grove City captured the boys Division B (ages 15-17) and Division C (14) events, respectively, at the Keystone Public Golf Association P.J. Boatwright Junior Qualifier Monday at Pine Grove Golf Course.Peterson fired a 70 to edge Derek Forese (72), also of Grove City while Prokay won his division by 10 strokes with a round of 72.In the girls Division B division (15-17), Marisa Glew, who attends Mars High School, fired an 83, and her sister Lauren was second with an 86.

PITTSBURGH — The Penguins on Monday made qualifying offers to six of their free agents, including former No. 1 pick Marc-Andre Fleury.The Penguins made offers to the promising goaltender, defenseman Brooks Orpik, and forwards Colby Armstrong, Ryan Malone, Niklas Nordgren and Jani Rita, said General Manager Ray Shero.Offers were not made to 11 other players, who will become unrestricted free agents. Those players are goaltender Andy Chiodo; defensemen Drew Fata, Alexandre Rouleau and Andy Schneider; and forwards Ben Eaves, Andy Hilbert, Krystofer Kolanos, Konstantin Koltsov, Cam Paddock, Tomas Surovy and Petr Taticek.Unrestricted free agency begins July 1.
