NEW YORK — For just the third time in 36 years, the Belmont Stakes will be run without either the Kentucky Derby or Preakness Stakes winner.

Preakness winner Bernardini was declared out of the Belmont Wednesday, another blow to the final race of the Triple Crown series set for June 10

The Belmont field already was without Derby winner Barbaro, who sustained career-ending injuries in last weekend's Preakness, which Bernardini won by 5Z\v lengths.

The Butler Cubs 17-year-old AAUgirls basketball team won the championship of the Ballers Spring Jam last weekend at Slippery Rock University.The Cubs defeated the Ballers in the title game. Team members include Rachel Barry, Lyndsy Day, Jill Emberg, Brittany Foust, Allison Kepple, Karissa King, Erica Miller, Maria Stallone, Katherine Sylvia and Alyssa Young.
