Andi Rose won two individual titles and ran on a pair of winning relays Saturday to garner the Outstanding Female and Overall Athlete honors and lead the Slippery Rock University women to the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships title at California (Pa.) University.

The title was the third in the past four years and fourth in six years for the team.

In men's competition, Jeff Weiss won the Outstanding Track Athlete honor and led SRU to a second-place finish.

Rose won the 100 hurdles in 14.08 seconds and 400 hurdles in a meet-record time of 1:00.53. She also ran the third legs in the 400- and 1,600-meter relays.

The team of Jill Rekich (Butler High), Vera McDaniel, Rose and Janiece Rash ran a meet-record time of 46.93 in the 400 relay while Rekich, Alison Gardner, Rose and Melissa Sopher (Slippery Rock High) had a winning time of 3:48.09 in the 1,600 relay. The latter time earned a provisional berth in the NCAA Division II national championship meet.

Weiss won the 5,000 (14:42.30) and 10,000 (30:43.21), both also meeting a provisional qualifying standard.

In all, 11 Rock women won first-place medals including two more by McDaniel in the 100 (12.19) and 200 (24.66).

For the Rock men, Shayne Cooper won the 110 hurdles (14.61), Paul Schwab the decathlon (6,539 points) and the 400 relay team of Nate Shadeck, Cooper, Gerald Christian and Gabe Fortunato (41.53) did likewise.

The Rock women grabbed the top five places in the pole vault, including Knoch graduate Sarah Reppermund's fifth place finish (11-0).

Rekich was fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.11) and Sopher sixth (15.14) while in the 400 hurdles, Rekich was third (1:02.36) and Sopher sixth (1:05.25).
