CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jim Furyk made an 8-foot par putt to force extra holes, then made a 6-footer for par to beat Trevor Immelman at the Wachovia Championship on Sunday.

A hard-luck loser in a four-hole playoff at Quail Hollow last year, Furyk closed with a 1-under 71 and earned $1.134 million for his 11th career victory.

South Africa's Immelman finished with a 70 to match Furyk at 12-under 276.

Adam Scott was third at 8 under after a 71.

INCHEON, South Korea — Michelle Wie shot a 2-over 74 to finish 12 strokes behind winner Prom Meesawat of Thailand in the rain-shortened SK Telecom Open, where she made the cut in a men's tournament for the first time in eight attempts.The 16-year-old Wie, whose parents were born in South Korea, had two birdies and four bogeys to finish the Asian Tour event at 3-under 213.Meesawat finished with a 68 for a three-stroke victory over India's Jeev Milkha Singh (70) and South Korea's Lee Seung-ho (70).

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Cristie Kerr overcame a four-stroke deficit to win her seventh LPGA Tour title, closing with a 5-under 67 for a two-stroke victory over Lorena Ochoa, Pat Hurst and Angela Stanford in the Franklin American Mortgage Championship.Kerr had five birdies in her bogey-free round to finish with a tournament-record 19-under 269 total on the Vanderbilt Legends Club's Ironhorse Course.

PHOENIX — Mop-haired Canadian Steve Nash ran away with his second consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player award on Sunday.Nash — the maestro of the fast, frenetic Phoenix Suns — beat runner-up LeBron James of Cleveland to become the ninth player to win consecutive MVP trophies.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Undefeated Barbaro stormed into the lead at the top of the stretch and won convincingly to give trainer Michael Matz his first Kentucky Derby victory and jockey Edgar Prado his first winning ride.Barbaro beat a full field of 20 3-year-olds — considered one of the toughest in years — to win his sixth consecutive race.Bluegrass Cat was second, followed by Steppenwolfer.Barbaro becomes the sixth undefeated winner, following Smarty Jones in 2004.
